Thierry Henry has put his weight behind Paul Scholes' bid to be crowned PFA Player of the Year, having conceded he voted for the Manchester United midfielder.
Arsenal's brilliant Frenchman is no stranger to the award having been its recipient in both 2003 and 2004, and while it has not been a vintage in year North London, in Manchester, Scholes has been a leading light in the club's bid on three fronts this season.
Scholes is on a six-man short-list that includes team-mates Ryan Giggs and Cristiano Ronaldo, along with Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas, Liverpool's Steven Gerrard and Didier Drogba of Chelsea.
The bookies have installed Ronaldo as the early front-runner but having come through a long-lay following a problem with blurred vision, it is Scholes who Henry believes has been the catalyst for United's resurgence this season.
"Good luck to Cesc, but obviously I am not allowed to vote for a team-mate, my vote went to Paul Scholes," said Henry.
"You saw how much Manchester United missed him last season, and you have seen what a difference he has made when he has come back this year."
Another Manchester United man to have caught Henry's attention this season is Ronaldo, who he believes has now matured into being the player he always hinted at becoming.
He added: "If Cristiano Ronaldo does not win the main award, I think he should take the young player award.
"All he was missing was goals and assists - but he has added that this year so I would be very surprised if he does not win it."
