Brazil coach Dunga has recalled Arsenal midfielder Julio Baptista to the squad.
Baptista will replace Ze Roberto, who has decided to step down from international football and will not play in the Copa America.
"I am very happy with this new chance that I have been given to play for the Brazilian national team," Baptista told TV Globo.
"I was a little bit upset when the list was announced and I wasn't in it but I had a kind of faith that I could receive a last minute call.
"In the beginning I thought that maybe Dunga had decided not to include me in the list to let me have some rest because everyone knows that the English league is very tough.
"But as I was wishing to be called to the team for the Copa America I always had the faith that maybe a door could get opened and it has happened since the moment that Ze Roberto decided not to play for Brazil anymore.
"The best thing for me is to be recalled under these circumstances. I wouldn't have liked to have been included in the team because a team-mate got injured or something like that."
