Arsenal winger Aliaksander Hleb has promised to be more selfish in front of goal ahead of the new season.
The Belarusian is aware that his team didnÂ’t endear themselves to many fans last year, with their hesitation in the final third of the pitch and their search of the perfect goal.
Hleb has been used in many positions across the midfield and is known for his superb close-control and defence splitting runs, however, as an attacking midfielder, his finishing has often left a lot to be desired.
Throughout his career this has been the case. The 26-year-old scored only 13 league goals during five years with Stuttgart and has netted just 6 times since arriving at Arsenal in 2005.
But Hleb has noted that although his assists record is good, to push on to the next level he must turn chances into goals
“I really want to score more, it is my main problem. Maybe I am not selfish enough on the pitch,” said the winger.
“I have always preferred setting up a team-mate rather than scoring myself. I have to learn to be more selfish.”
