Arsenal are waiting to see if new signing Eduardo da Silva will be awarded a work permit. The Croatia international will miss this weekend's Emirates Cup, as Arsenal look to resolve the issue.
Arsenal have an appeal hearing on 2nd August and Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is confident the matter will be resolved before the start of the new season.
"We've an appeal hearing on 2 August for his work permit," said Wenger.
"He has 50 per cent national games for Croatia, which is a great achievement. He's played every game in the last year, so it'll be extremely close.
"There are some signings in England who didn't play even one game for smaller countries than Croatia.
"I'm optimistic that we have a reasonable chance."
