Arsène Wenger is perfectly happy that Gael Clichy has not yet received a call-up to the French national side.
Last season, Abou Diaby and Mathieu Flamini joined the long procession of Arsenal players who have been selected for Les Bleus in the past decade. However Clichy's highly competent campaign was overlooked.
Wenger wants the 22-year-old to receive the honour however, he argues, that the former Cannes full back has plenty of time on his side.
"I would love him to [get called]," said the Arsenal manager. "But then at the same time I feel it probably best not to talk about it too much and let him get on quietly to play and improve. He will not be ignored.
"Gael deals well with impatience anyway. He is just focussed on working well in training and in the games. He tries to improve every time and that is the best way to deal with the situation.
"He is still so young, only 22. And anyway you only ever improve under one condition - that you get your focus and your concentration every day. That is something the young players have learned from the older generation we had here.
"The big players were always focussed from the first to the last minute. Gael is intelligent and he learnt from players like Dennis Bergkamp that you always have to work well every day."
* Flamini was called into the provisional French squad in January but did not appear for the team.
Yeah he deserves the call-up but he he just needs to improve in his crossings
