Arsene Wenger believes Theo Walcott should have been considered for England's friendly against Germany.Steve McClaren is facing a selection dilemma in attack, with Wayne Rooney injured and Darren Bent and Andy Johnson also forced out of the squad.
Walcott has not been included in an England squad since the World Cup but Wenger thinks he could have been the answer to McClaren's problem.
"I was surprised last week when people were talking about a striking crisis and nobody mentioned Walcott," said the Arsenal boss.
Walcott spent the summer recovering from shoulder surgery but Wenger has been impressed with the way he has returned.
He admits he is not yet certain what the teenager's best position is but feels he is a good option either up front or on the wing.
"It has taken some time but in the last week I can see he is really coming back," said Wenger.
"At the moment I feel he is more of a wide player but because he makes good runs he could be good in the centre as well."
