Colossal squid's headache for science

  it is believed to be the first ever intact adult colossal squid to be landed.
  
  And for now, this beast of the deep - all 495kg (1,090lb) of it - is safely frozen in a one-cubic-metre block of ice at New Zealand's national museum, Te Papa Tongarewa, in Wellington.

  The Colossal Squid (Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni), sometimes called the Antarctic or Giant Cranch Squid, is believed to be the largest squid species. It is the only member of the genus Mesonychoteuthis. Though it is known from only a few specimens, current estimates put its maximum size at 12–14 metres (39–46 feet) long.

  for neutral bouyancy or something like that in the Giant Squid, the flesh is extremely high in ammonia...
  
  which makes it inedible for humans
  
  chances are, the colossal squid is the same..
  
  besides, after trawling one up, it could die like some of the other deep sea creatures... so we may never see one alive...
