This is a Woolly Bear Caterpillar
It will grow up to be an Isabella Tiger Moth.
If it doesn't get attacked by parasites like a parasitic fly.
This is a Tachinid Fly. It will lay its eggs on caterpillars which will hatch and eat away the caterpillars from the inside and then emerge as a fully-formed fly.
However, if a Woolly Bear is attacked, it has a defense mechanism. The Woolly Bear usually eats Lupine leaves or the poisonous Hemlock leaves. If there is a parasite growing within its body, the Woolly Bear will choose to eat Hemlock leaves. Although this doesn't kill the parasite, the poisonous Hemlock helps the caterpillar survive the attack and after the fly has left the body, the caterpillar surprisingly survives to metamorphosise into the adult Isabella Tiger Moth.
