Hi, as above the title, various religions have come up with different theory. But let us describe our own theory of hell here. Hell in the Abrahamic religions is eternal and is a place where the devil resides. The hell is described as somewhat a dungeon-like place. They believe that having faith in God/Allah/Jehovah will eventually get them to heaven and never expirience hell.
Whereas hell in the Dharmic religions hell is a place to wash off the sins of sinners and is not eternal, but extremely long to the extent that it cannot be counted with our time. There is no rest but only torment, and each person will have to account for their own karma, whether or not if he/she believes in god or devil. Not everybody goes to hell because it is base on karma. Hell is not always hot and there are Cold hells too. Once the sins of the sinner is washed off, he can return as either an animal, human or spirit base on his karma. Taoism on the other hand have similar theories, however the realease of sinners on the 7th month of lunar calender is added.
Because this topic is quite deep, i would wish to hear from you all the views on hell =)
