Hi everyone, im thinking of ways to improve my built by going to the gym.. i heard that to improve ur built and ur body shape, we should do more reps of easier excercises ( meaning carrying less heavy weights and set the weight level of the various machine lower ).. compared to lesser reps of heavier excercises.. is it true?
And also, can anyone suggest me a regime that can help improve my built? im not all for building up big muscles, packs etc.. i just to look built and physically well.
My opinion: Build your regime around a core set of basic compound exerises - chins, bench, squats, lifts, dips, rows.
Generally for bulking, less reps more weights, for toning more reps less weights. But for beginners, to avoid injuries, it's best to stick to standard reps of 12-15 and use appropriate weights while still able to execute the exercises in good form.
It's not as easy to build up big muscles as you think ;)
You can still go heavy

bullshit, there is no such thing as toning....its either ur bodyfat increase or decrease.
To simon,
well i been thinking of going to the gym twice a week to improve my physique but i have no idea of what excercises are best for me. i been using machines ( the one that allow dips and pushups, pull down bar, row and a few more ) + free weights... at home when im free i also do pushups.. i also do some jogging as i heard cardio excercises is best for losing fat ( i have tummy and trying to lose it )

Then what do you call exercises to improve muscular endurance? Or what do you tell the ladies who are put off by all the big muscles in the gym - just do cardio and watch your diet?

I think he is talking about muscle cut and not just toning.
For muscle cut you need to juggle your training regiment doing anaerobic and aerobic exercises.Buy a copy of Men Fitness magazine to get yourself started.
