Hello any pro marathon runners share tips?
Any aspects aso can, diet, training, shoes, basically all the know-hows to train one's mind and body for a marathon!
Weeeeeeeee~
btw, I am not gonna suicide and do a 42km straight la.
Gonna start with 6km! :D
LOL
keke which marathon?? hehs my gf aso gg next week..
mmm just train by run long distance lor.. hehe at least 30 mins of run non-stop la hehe
run progressively longer distance for each training
Diet: Just maintain a normal, well-balanced diet. Carbo-load one week before the marathon.
Training: Train progressively. As a rule of thumb, increase your running distance by no more than 10% per week.
My advice is to devote 4 to 6 months for marathon training. And take part in at least one half-marathon event (e.g. AHM) before trying to go for a marathon event (e.g. Stanchart).
Run progressively shorter distance for each training, starting with 100km.

You're planning to run the Stanchart marathon in December?

SBR/AHM has 5 km, 10 km, and 21 km events. I take it that you're referring to the 5 km run.
Frankly speaking, if you can clear NAPFA/IPPT 2.4 km, then the 5km run should be small potatoes. Aim higher and go for the 10 km category. You have one month to prepare for it. That's more than enough time.
Just be sure that you can clear at least 21 clicks non-stop one month before a marathon. No kidding. A lot of people (myself included) came down with severe leg cramps after the halfway mark in the Sundown marathon.

Half maybe?
But I'm abit apprehensive to run 21km. Hope I dont die halfway.
Perhaps will see how the 6km go and decide to do Stan Chart anot. :)
6km is not a marathon =_=
last time my when I was a triathlon year 1, we ran 5km twice, each time less than 25mins
Yea my fren is a regular marathon runner and he tells me it's hard, especially after the half way mark.
The only 10km I've did is the TNP Big Walk which is like 7 years ago.
Yep I did clear my 2.4km, but exercise has been on hiatus since like 3 years ago.
Start small first I suppose, dont wanna be the first casuality of a full marathon in Singapore.

Just a few weeks before you have the actual run, start eating more carbo-rich food, such as bananas.
6km shouldn't take you 4 months to train, if you train on a one-day-train-one-day-rest basis, 1 month should be enough. 4 months is for those who only run once or twice a week.
I am going for 10km run this Dec...
