But hope to have bigger muscle la.
Few pointers why i am still considering.
1. Might get fatter instead of fitter
2. Lots of pimper ( as it is very heaty )
3. Scare will get and look shorter.
I am about the same height with you and I am 85kg.You are too thin and need protein to gain some weight.

Hi Iceman90,
There is no need for you to eat protein to build up your muscles. The most important things are to have an effective diet and workout plan, they will be more useful than just eating any sort of body building supplements.
Cheers.

Have to disagree with u.
Protein is essential in growing + maintaining of muscles.
Protein doesnt have to be in a form of body building supplements.
Chicken, fish, meats, soya, all of them are also rich in protein.
No effective diet will succeed without protein.

Hi maskedangel,
I am sorry if I did not put my words properly which has resulted in a slight misunderstanding. What I meant is that there is no need to have special protein intakes ( Protein Bars, Powders...etc. ) to promote muscle growth.
Cheers.

1. protein unlike carbo and fat, will not be stored in the body. So eating extra will not result in fattening. but it is surely will be wastage if you are not utilizing what you eat.
2. Protein will not cause heatiness. Anyway "whey" protein, is just milk power, soya power is from soya beans
3. you are quite big size, I suggest you might want to slim down.
iceman, u will look shorter if u bulk up.
imo, u are at a right weight to start a regular routine ,respective to your height.
1.65 gain muscles ==> will look like potatoes de. Mai la. tone up muscle will do.. don't gain muscles bulk ==> potatoes
Will look like shorty.

there's no need to, agreed... Powders are just a cheaper way to take in protein without eating so much meat...
For most people, there's no need for protein supplements... unless you are doing like 120kg squats and 140kg deadlifts....

dude, you are severely overweight. bet you can't do chinups
it's best to take the following supplements
1) Protein Shakes for long term muscle growth
2) Creatine for strength in the gym
3) Nitric Oxide for strength and temporary size
4) Glutamine for quick recovery
5) Mass gainer for calories

sorry, i wasn't directing this at you. i was just a bit irritated that people with BMI > 21 call those with good BMI scrawny. i have to agree, 12 chinups is pretty decent :)
Too bad. i can do 15. I am nt overweight anyway. don look downon ppl. U think u are good? there is always someone better? Timing for 2.4 n S.O.C?
mrvictor, just playing only la :) I'm overweight at 1.7m and 80kg :( But hey, given my hectic work schedule, I still can manage a silver for IPPT :)
Iceman, if you want to bulk up, the most important thing is to do the big 3 exercises, namely bench press, deadlifts and squats. Before considering protein supplements, check on your diet and your training :)
my 2.4 timing i have to admit is not what you all might call optimal, i still have some way to go to improving my 9:15 timing.
I am 95kg and can knock off 12 dead hang pullups anyday.
My BMI is almost 29 and I am so faaattt...
The last time I took protein powder and stopped gyming for about a week, I felt everything became fats, but when I stopped, it didn't happen.
Maybe it's just a mental thing but I've sworn myself off these sort of artificial form of boost. I'll just have a proper diet and let things work by itself.

1 scoop=120 calories. So if you take 1 scoop for 1 week=840 calories. You need to take an extra 3500 calories per week to gain a pound(<500g)of pure fat. It's all in your head la...
Think you are not training properly in the first place.
but creatine can work wonders in terms of instant strength in the gym. it increases your lifts and volume by 10%.
There's no use taking creatine without proper training.

I used to have about 1.5 scoops about for 3 gyming sessions per week, eagle told me it was too much, dropped down to 0.5 scoop. Can't remember what exactly, stopped taking it altogether.
My workout isn't that intensive but I get by, i compensated not taking protein by having a proper diet, helped again but eventually hit a plateau.

Come Hougang Gym train squats with me every Sunday lah
40 mins gao dim... Recently I cutting, so reached 77kg, still doing 120kg squats... Like that then I take that wee bit more supplement....
When I was still doing 80kg to 90kg squats, I wasn't taking any...
I take 2 scoops of protein on non-training days, 4.5 scoops on training days. I take 2 scoops even during my scheduled one week layoffs where I totally slack and don't do anything physical at all. Why? It's during recovery that your body needs protein more than ever to become bigger and stronger.
Of course it helps that I am a sponsored athlete so my protein is free.
LOL!!!
