I went for jogging since last week but i faced a huge problem. Or maybe problems.
First, when i've jog for like 100 metres, my calf starts to get tired. Or the chinese saying, "suan". Is this normal? After a short while, my breathing starts to quicken. Have a urge to grasp for more air. The breathing part im ok with it as i can bear with it. But for the calf part I dont seem to have the determination to bear with it. Even if i bear with it, my jogging pace is getting slower and slower till i took 6secs to reach 10 metres (Yes i timed myself).
If I were to jog continuously for 10mins on this coming wed regardless of the pace, will this actually help in my overall performance as time passes?
Please feel free to give me advice or opinions. Whether it's good or bad i'll accept it as long as it helps.
Set a timing for jogging, best timing is morning i guess. Start a target lets say 6 rounds, then slowly work towards it. If you want perfomance then time yourself. Endurance is the key.
Wow
How old are you?
I don't think it's normal for most people to tire so easily after jogging for such a short while.
But if this keeps up...please go and consult a doctor...just to be on the safe side.
Lastime In NS, I jog until I feel a sharp pain in my heart. I thought I am dying and asked the medic for help.

Heart problems.
Too long never jog. When im in sec sch at least i have friends to run together. Now im training on my own.
After 100 metres its not that kinda very tired. Just a little tired. Very tired starts maybe after 2 or 3 rounds (800m or 1.2km).
I can try my best to endure the tiredness but its the jogging pace that worries me the most.

Better go for a check up just in case
PS: you're in ur 20s right?
Checkup if you feel your body is unwell or any tightness in your chest.
when was the last time u jogged or exercise?
Going NS in june. Was working till apr end so i nv go exercise. Just started last week to exercise. Before i went to work, i got 18mins for 2,4km. Now i dont know whats the problem. But what i think is motivation, and lack of determination.
CMPB found no problem with me. Just given a PES BL1 because i am underweight. Im tall but im skinny.
I dont know how to describe my problem. Just that the tiredness i slowing me down thats all.

Wah 18 mins ah!
Lol I'm better! Yay!
Hmmm maybe u need to build up ur stamina...but I think it's not normal for a young guy to be so easily tired....
At your age...you should be very physically fit.
Maybe you shld take more tonics?
Haha...... same. Look at post 2 then.

haha stamina problem bah. NS CMPB checkup got do heart ECG gt problems should be able to detect.
Thats why. Stamina might be the main problem. Maybe i should try jogging continuously and see what will be the longest time. Anyway im not running on tracks though its just a road across. I dun wanna let the distance affect me. Just wanna last longer when jogging.

calf ache is normal..u need to time ur breathing, making it at a constant eg 3 paces deep inhale, 3 paces exhale..fast and shallow breath will tire u out fast..dont have to run fast..for starters, do 40mins to 1 hour do non stop at conversational pace and run alt days
Thats the whole point of jogging, to push your endurance.
Does not warming up contribute to this problem? =X
I did not do warm up this morning before jogging.
Im not sure if i can jog that long. But what i did today was jog 1.5min walk 1.5min for 6 cycles.
i think if your warmup is refering to stretching then i guess it doesnt matter.
but i think its better to start jogging slower then slowly build up the speed to get your muscles warmed up.
i also always kena calf ache but i think its cuz of the way i run, using my feet to push myself forward O:

Yea stretching. I dont stretch my calves.
And i used my toes to push myself forward.
It could be my running technique that is wrong.
ayiah, just get past that "aching" part of the jog and your body will warm up.
u go BMT then u let me see your SGT will let u stop even though u think u are aching.
then u tell me if u got improve or not

in just 100m? rubbish.
u go run 10km then u feel an ache that shouldn't be there, then that's probably running technique wrong.
i suggest you overcome the initial 100m ache and push on

So your advice is just keep jogging and i'll gradually improve?
