  wad is the diff between this and the bevel and emboss under the blending properties?

  this tends to be better and emboss gives a really ugly effect if you dont know how to do the properties well. This is more versatile and for beginners

  nice method
  
  but being a lazy person, I rather use the layer properties in photoshop, though when we are limited by applications (ie without photoshop), this is very useful
