Reason why there are matchmakers

My NUS tutor says that the reason why married people matchmake people is because they have suffered, and hence they want to see more people suffer together with them.

Matchmakers are for ppl who are too busy to find themselves a partner, yet want to settle down.
I feel that ppl who go for matchmakers hor, miss out alot of fun dating and the natural process of getting to know someone...
Is it really difficult for them to find someone that they like and u noe, let the process flow naturally? So busy until like that meh?
Then might as well, marry their money rite...
