U try living in the US. Imagine u quit from a coy, then u found a job in other state. The distance is like few hundred miles apart and u have to relocate, meaning move to near the state u work. In sg, it just mean have to wake up early if u work in jurong island while u stay at yishun.
For ur info, some coy just pay u 1 mth pay when u get layoff. And this also applies to ppl who work for 20 yrs.

I guess it's the culture.
In Singapore, we tend to build our lives upon our jobs/career thinking it defines us. Within first few lines of most social conversation, you'll get that "What do you work as?" question.
Maybe this is how fancy ten dollar word job titles came about.
Whereas in the european culture for some, it's how they live their lives outside of work that counts. A job is just a job, it pays the bills. -

Actually it really boils down to your mentality.
I have friends who work hard and play alot harder. Alot of them may not even have high paying jobs but it is juz the thinking that Life's not all about how much you earn or what job title u hold.
But alot of S'poreans will feel that they are unambitious, living life on the edge, insecure lifestyle... so on and so forth.
It really depends on your culture, your upbringing, your perception.
No one can dictate what you want to do with your life. U hold the reins. -
Since most of the movie tat we watched r from hollywood, "YES" generally ang mo in US is living a better life than us ...

Coz, as a country, US has the most influrence on the world
Coz, their money is consider as international money
Coz, when they occupy other countries, it is considered "right"
Coz, many talents tat think US is the best will flock to there... hence, more invention, patents....
Coz.....
Well, TS's thoughts may be good in a way is tat it will bring about nationalism where we wonder y our lifes are different... tat is where our forefathers started the idea of independence...
But for me hor... if ask me to think y our life is so much different from Ang moh , I would rather think y I never strike this week toto ...
