I seldom see guys opening doors for ladies or display basic courtesy. Very seldom, but not NONE of coz.Originally posted by EarlNeo:If u are expecting those like of the knight in the medieval age, it long gone. But if u mean those in the form of courtesy's manner display by gentlemen, well not all hope is lost. When is they last time you heard parent teaching or inspired their son to be chivalrous?
I seldom see guys open doors for ger when boarding taxi or even hold the door open for ger to pass by. If most guys here can't even display the basic courtesy, what are the chances that u find men that had quality like bravery and honour as well. After all, what constituted to the knighthood code of chivalry are; bravery, courtesy, honour, and gallantry toward women.
I believe that the idea of chivalry are still around. Just not in singapore.
Too many automatic doors in SingaporeOriginally posted by Nata|ie:I seldom see guys opening doors for ladies or display basic courtesy. Very seldom, but not NONE of coz.
the whole idea is discrimination against males mah.Originally posted by seow:and aiyo, hold doors for charbo only meh?
chivalry sounds sexist.
Exactly. It's just doesn't seem worth it to be "chivalrous" anymore in this age, as nobody really appreciates it.Originally posted by Nata|ie:Sometimes Girls also spoil market. Take these actions for granted or doesn't even show a tinge of appreciation.
Is not that I have something against Sg girls. But sometimes, we really brought it upon ourselves.
Me thinks women are very observant of little things, so even if they don't show their appreciation for small gestures outwardly, they're still taking note.Originally posted by dakkon_blackblade:Exactly. It is there only if the gers want it, but apparently even the gers do not want it....Originally posted by Nata|ie:Girls, do you still see chivalry being exhibited nowadays? Are you being treated like a lady, and how?
Guys, do you think u are a gentleman? In wat ways??
OK dear, whatever you say, dear...Originally posted by Nata|ie:I still like men who practive chivalry. And I dun agree that men and women are equal.
Yes, men and women are not equal. What I detest are those women who argue that men and women are equal and yet demand "special treatment" for themselves.Originally posted by Nata|ie:I still like men who practive chivalry. And I dun agree that men and women are equal.
Females claimed they are equal to men. But they expect you to pay for a meal, open doors for them, send them home, etc. Some expect you to do her share of work for them! When you say no (furiously), they'll spread news around the whole office saying that this guy is so petty, joking only mah. When you say no (politely), they'll spread news around the whole office saying that this guy is so un-gentleman.Originally posted by Nata|ie:Girls, do you still see chivalry being exhibited nowadays? This could be why men are generally more well paid than women. Evens out the equation.Originally posted by airgrinder:Females claimed they are equal to men. When u open doors for them (own experience, last time go lunch at the raffles place Arcade, downstairs got banquet foodcourt, it's not auto-doors) they dun appreciate it. Some stared at u like you're a clown.
Even on MRTs, I give my seat to the elderly, sometimes to young ladies who seems to be bloug down by bags. Some elderly just sit as if I had owed them in my pastlife. Some ladies just stared. knns
Perhaps the ladies brought it upon themselves. Claim that guys are not gentlemen and yet when someone does gentlemen stuff, they stared, dun show appreciation, and give the rude haughty look.
