The Central and Western District (traditional Chinese: ä¸è¥¿å€) located on northern part of Hong Kong Island is one of the 18 administrative districts of Hong Kong. It had a population of 261,884 in 2001. The district has the most educated residents with the second highest income and the third lowest population due to its relatively small size.
Central is the central business district and the core urban area of Hong Kong. Western District covers Shek Tong Tsui, Kennedy Town and Sai Ying Pun, and is part of the City of Victoria, the earliest urban settlement in colonial Hong Kong.
The Wan Chai District (traditional Chinese: 仔, literally "Cove District") is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong, located in the north of Hong Kong island. It had a population of 167,146 in 2001. The district has the second most educated residents with the highest income, the second lowest population and the third oldest residents, and is also the only district without any public housing estates. It is also affluent, with one in five persons having liquid assets of more than 1 million HKD.

The Eastern District (traditional Chinese: ) is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong. It had a population of 587,690 in 2006. The district has the second highest population while its residents have the third highest median household income among 18 districts.
It is located in the north east of Hong Kong Island and includes the areas of the eastern portion of Causeway Bay, Tin Hau, Fortress Hill, North Point, Quarry Bay, Shau Kei Wan, Heng Fa Chuen, and Chai Wan.
Originally a backwater of fishing villages, quarries and dockyards, the Eastern District is now mostly residential, with some industrial areas and several large shopping malls. While most Home Ownership Scheme and public housing estates are located from Sai Wan Ho to Chai Wan, large private housing estates are located within the eastern district, such as Taikoo Shing, Kornhill and Heng Fa Chuen. A commercial hub has been developed from the former industrial areas in western part of Quarry Bay. Hotels and commercial buildings are also developed near Fortress Hill along the coast.
In the past the district was linked by a single King's Road, which was notoriously congested during peak hours, this had largely been solved by the constructions of the Island Eastern Corridor, the Island Line within the MTR rapid transit system in the 1980s and it contains the long-historied tram line that stretches from Shau Kei Wan towards other districts near the sea shore.
The Southern District is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong. It is located in the southern part of Hong Kong Island. It had a population of 290,240 in 2001. This district has the fourth lowest population of Hong Kong.
The Southern District faces the South China Sea at the south, and is backed by hills and reservoirs, designated as Country Parks, at the north. The eastern half of the district is semi-rural, with some of Hong Kong's most popular beaches. The western half of the district is partly residential and partly industrial.

Rail transport in Hong Kong
Hong Kong's rail network comprises public transport trains operated by MTR Corporation Limited (MTRC). The MTRC operates the metro network of Hong Kong and the commuter rail network connecting the northeastern and northwestern New Territories with the rest of Hong Kong. Approval has been granted for the merger of the MTRC and the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC), following discussions to merge the two corporations for economies of scale and cost effectiveness.
Ten lines, 82 railway stations and 68 light rail stops:
Cross-border services
Commonly known as Through Train (chi. 直通車), the MTRC and railway companies of mainland China jointly provide cross-border train services from Hung Hom Station, Kowloon, sharing most of the tracks with the East Rail Line, to destinations in mainland China through neighbouring Shenzhen on three Through Train routes, namely Beijing line (to/from Beijing), Shanghai line (to/from Shanghai) and Guangdong line (to/from Zhaoqing and Guangzhou East). They are operated through the rail network in mainland China, including the Guangshen Railway and Jingguang Railway.
