  Anyway Lord Ganesh is popularly worshipped as a remover of obstacles but also dont forget Lord Ganesh is also known to place obstacles in the path of those who need to be checked.

  Its very common , to see hindus at chinese/buddhist temples & chinese at hindu temples.
  
  I as a hindu , did take part in a few taoist ceremony , One of which i have to carry
  a deity on my shoulder , i forgot the name of the ceremony , but i remember it was somewhere in the month of hungry ghost.
