Hello Hindus friend.
I may be a Chinese but I am interested to know more about Indian culture and religion. Hence, I hope our Hindus friend can help me with my questions.
I was at the Fire Walking ceremony last Sunday at Sri Mariamman Temple. Indeed it was awksome. So many people and I was happy to see many indian youngster there. It prove that many still hold tradition. Now, I hope the expert can share your knowledge here with me?
For instance, during the procession, a priest,( at least I believe he is), was walking by and then the worshipper started throwing flowers at him. What is the purpose of doing that?
Then, there were a few Indians wear yellow t shirts waiting for the procession to come along and jump in to join the queue. I think they are not supposed to do it as they told me they fasted for 10 days to prepare for the fire walking. I thought they have to fast for a least a month and during these time, they are supposed to do daily cleansing ritual.
So much for now. If there are answer to the above, I would like to post more.
Thanks
