"Before you say anything, ask yourself whether it is necessary or not. If it's not, don't say it. This is the first step in training the mind - for if you can't have any control over your mouth, how can you expect to have any control over your mind?"

Even in the greatest yogi, sorrow and joy still arise just as before. The difference between an ordinary person and the yogi is how they view their emotions and react to them.
An ordinary person will instinctively accept or reject them, and so arouse the attachment or aversion that will result in the accumulation of negative karma.
A yogi, however, perceives everything that rises in its natural, pristine state, without allowing grasping to enter his perception.

The Blessed Buddha once said:
Friends, this is the only direct way to the mental purification of beings, to the overcoming & elimination of sorrow, frustration, pain and misery, to gaining the right method, to the realization of Nibbna, that is:
This establishing of the 4 Foundations of Awareness.
The 4 frames of reference.
Awareness is therefore a Mountain of Advantage!
Take Home: The 4 Foundations of Right Awareness are:
1: Being aware of the BODY as a mere transient form.
2: Being aware of the FEELING as a mere reactive response.
3: Being aware of the MIND as a mere passing set of moods.
4: Being aware of the PHENOMENON as a mere mental state.

To walk consistently on Bodhisattva's path is to nurture one's inner compassion without bearing any improper thought.

The Blessed Buddha once said:
Slay anger and you will be happy,
Slay anger and you will not sorrow.
For the slaying of anger in all its forms with its poisoned root and sweet sting, that is the only slaying the Nobles praise; With anger slain one sorrows no more!
Samyutta Nikya I, 161

The Blessed Buddha once said:
Let no one deceive another, or despise anyone anywhere, or through anger or irritation
wish for another to suffer.
