No, we should work hard on improving our lives but accept whatever outcome after trying. In Buddhism, wisdom is above compassion. 慈悲也用智慧。 However, we must understand that being treated badly by someone could be due to the cause in our past lives but we can improve it in this life by practicing the Dharma. That's the reason why we must practice the Dharma. We can't change the cause as it was created in the past but Buddha taught us the Dharma to work on the effect and to stop creating new negative cause.
It is wrong to think that everything that happens in this life is due to past lives, it could be the cause created in this life. Buddhism did not teach that everything that happens is due the cause in past lives. It could be but not necessary be. It can be changed or else there's no point in practicing the Dharma.
If you are a practicing Buddhist, you will know there are various ways in Buddhism to resolve negative relationship. You can recite Buddha's name or sutra and dedicate the merits to the person who treats you badly. Say a prayer so that the bad blood between both of you can be resolved. In Buddhst term, this person who treats you badly is your 怨亲债主 (karmic creditor).
The correct way of practicing is as per the below quote, before the negative karmic effect appears, practice the Dharma and negative karmic effect will not appear and not wait till negative karmic effect appears then try to resolve it, it may be more difficult or too late as karma has ripen.

Alone
To worry about future contingencies is to separate ourselves from Amitabha Buddha. It assumes that we face life’s challenges alone.
If we realize that Amitabha is always with us, we will never fret about today or tomorrow.
Consider a man who travels a dangerous path, accompanied by a warrior. He doesn’t fear for his future. If he were alone, he would surely pray to be spared from peril.

One must be clear that life comes and goes. Birth, aging, illness and death are natural law. Do know, cherish and cultivate your blessing.
------------------------------------------------------------
Bad, untruthful, flattering and twisted words can annoy peoples' minds and even overwhelm our society. One must always stay vigilant over what he/she says.
------------------------------------------------------------
When ignorance triggers vexation, a person's body, month and mind will produce bad causes, ending up with bad effects.

To work with changes now, in life: That is the real way to prepare for death. Life may be full of pain, suffering, and difficulty, but all of these are opportunities handed to us to help us move toward an emotional acceptance of death. It is only when we believe things to be permanent that we shut off the possibility of learning from change.
--------------------------------------------------------------
This existence of ours is as transient as autumn clouds
To watch the birth and death of beings is like looking at the movements of a dance.
A lifetime is like a flash of lightning in the sky,
Rushing by, like a torrent down a steep mountain.
------------------------------------------------------------
One can find ways to eliminate sufferings by studying their causes.
