


Without practicing due to Dharma taught by Buddha, we would have to be suffering all the sufferings as such: suffering the sufferings, suffering the becoming and suffering the decaying so forth toughly and inexpressively.

“First of all, Buddhism is neither pessimistic nor optimistic. If anything at all, it is realistic, for it takes a realistic view of life and the world. It looks at things objectively (yathÄ�bhÅ«tam).
It does not falsely lull you into living in a fool's paradise, nor does it frighten and agonize you with all kinds of imaginary fears and sins.
It tells you exactly and objectively what you are and what the world around you is, and shows you the way to perfect freedom, peace, tranquility and happiness.”



“There is no unmoving mover behind the movement. It is only movement.
It is not correct to say that life is moving, but life is movement itself.
Life and movement are not two different things.
In other words, there is no thinker behind the thought.
Thought itself is the thinker. If you remove the thought, there is no thinker to be found.”

Being sensitive about things… "They don’t like me." "They’re criticizing me unfairly." "They’re not respecting me." All these situations are problems of this life. This life doesn’t last very long. It’s like a flash of lightning on a dark night. When we leave this life, all the people who are bugging us are not going to be coming with us. So why get so upset now over a problem of this life? Our real problem is that we’re in samsara. Our real problem is that our mind is under the influence of ignorance, anger, and attachment. That’s the real problem. So this life’s problems, we don’t need to be so ego-sensitive about them.
What’s very interesting is… every day we have a problem. Every day somebody disturbs us or there’s a situation we don’t like. When we have a problem, our problem seems bigger than any problem on the entire planet and yet, do we even remember our problem later? On this date last year, you had a problem. Do you remember what your problem was a year ago today? And yet on that day, the problem was really disturbing to you just like today, whatever problem you’re having is really disturbing to you. So if you can’t remember the problem later, why get so disturbed about it while it’s going on? It really doesn’t make much sense.

... The Buddha understood this uncertain nature of things. He observed the phenomenon of fruit in the wind and reflected upon the monks and novices who were his disciples. He found that they, too, were essentially of the same nature - uncertain! How could it be otherwise? This is just the way of all things.
Thus, for one who is practicing with awareness, it isn't necessary to have someone to advise and teach all that much to be able to see and understand. An example is the case of the Buddha who, in a previous life, was King Mahajanaka. He didn't need to study very much. All he had to do was observe a mango tree.

In the ordinary mind, we perceive the stream of thoughts as continuous, but in reality this is not the case. You will discover for yourself that there is a gap between each thought. When the past thought is past, and the future thought has not yet arisen, you will always find a gap in which the Rigpa, the nature of mind, is revealed. So the work of meditation is to allow thoughts to slow down, to make that gap become more and more apparent.





We should recite Amitabha Buddha’s name and bow before his image with such reverence and sincerity. Doing so will remove our karmic obstacles and increase our merit and wisdom.
