The idea of “Self”/“我”的概念
What people call self is actually a collection of constantly changing physical and mental factors, just as the world car is name for a collection of parts such as the wheels, engine, axles and chassis which are assembled in a particular manner. The wheels alone do not make the car, neither does any other particular part. It is the correct assembly of all the parts of the car in a certain order that makes the final product. Similarly, when all the physical and mental factors are working together, people speak of a self and personal experience.

External conditions are always changing, and when you try and manipulate the environment to get happiness, it is a never ending struggle.
We cannot control the world but we can control our own minds and take responsibility for how we react and what states of mind we are encouraging.
Ancient Buddhism and modern positive psychology both agree that it’s internal states of mind which are the primary cause of happiness. Virtuous states of mind, like love, generosity and patience, are major contributors to a happy life. Also mindfulness, an open mind, and caring for others, are all things that can be developed internally in relationship with the world and be the cause of a peaceful and happy person.
Attached to a thought, troubled by a thought, let go of a thought and you will be carefree.
