Dharma joy......plain and simple!
After an extravagant and exciting life, you feel desolate and miserable. After a simple and mild life, you have a long and lasting pleasant impression.

Anything plain and mild is enduring and long lasting. Since water is without flavour, it can blend very well with all kinds of tastes; unlike sweetness and saltiness which, when added together, produce an odd mixture of tastes. Therefore, tastelessness is considered the supreme state.

How can Buddhism help me?
Buddhism explains a purpose to life, it explains apparent injustice and inequality around the world and it provides a code of practice or way of life that leads to true happiness.

Venerable Master Hsing Yun’s Ch’an Talk:
How much merit do we have in this world? There is a limitation. No matter how wealthy we are, when we have depleted its supply, we will be penniless. Money, love, life – the amount of each of these things that we possess can be compared to a savings account in a bank. If we squander the merits that we have, the account will soon be exhausted. Therefore, we should use our merits sparingly and should not be wasteful. Not even a single drop of water should be wasted. Although a drop of water is very small, the vast ocean is made up of water drops.

Challenge Yourself
We are our biggest enemy. The enemy is hiding in our minds, our thoughts. The enemy cannot be easily found, for we are hiding him. If we do not remove negative thoughts, it will be very difficult for us to become liberated and free from sufferings.

Spring is here!
The Song of Life
Spring is not just a season, but a state of mind.
Life is not only in the body, but also in the mind.
Old age does not mean living many years, but thinking you are old.
Our lives are measured by eternity, not years.

CULTIVATING IN THIS LIFE
The human body is hard to obtain,
Yet I have obtained it today;
The Dharma is difficult to encounter,
Yet I have encountered it today.
If this body is not used to cultivate in this life,
Till which lifetime would this body be delivered?
── from Hsing Yun Shuo Ji (Hsing Yun’s Commentaries on Verses)

Our emotions are constantly changing. Some people are good at transforming their emotions and can quickly turn a moody mind into a happy one. Some are easily influenced by others or events and turn quickly from a joyful mood into a sorrowful one. We are able to create whatever mood we want. Therefore, we should turn sorrow into happiness and weakness into strength.
