How do we practice cultivation in our daily lives?
Cultivate a proper attitude toward the four basic needs: clothing, food, housing, and transportation.
As the main purpose of clothing is to keep us warm and protect us from the elements, simple and plain clothing is sufficient. Food is essential to satisfy our hunger and maintain our health; a plain meal is adequate to fulfill this need. Regarding housing, plenty of fresh air and a quiet environment are sufficient. Concerning transportation, consider this saying: I ride a donkey behind your horse; compared to you, I have less. Behind me, a man pulls a cart; I do not have less anymore.
When our very basic needs are satisfied and we are content with our circumstances, this is true cultivation.
