Chapter 22: Wealth and Lust Bring Suffering
The Buddha said, “People are reluctant to renounce wealth and sex. These are like honey on a knife’s blade, which is not enough to appease one’s hunger, yet a child who licks this honey is in danger of cutting his tongue.

Reciting "Nanmo Amituofo" and dedicate the merits to all sentient beings is a kind of dana (giving or donations) which does not need money.

The fundamental message of the Buddhist teachings is that if we are prepared, there is tremendous hope, both in life and in death. The teachings reveal to us the possibility of an astounding and finally boundless freedom, which is ours to work for now, in life—the freedom that will also enable us to choose our death and so to choose our next birth.
For someone who has prepared and practiced, death comes not as a defeat but as a triumph, the crowning and most glorious moment of life.

If we understand the impermanence properly it gives us all kinds of hope.

Sometimes when people have distracted mind, rather than cultivating simple awareness, they complain, “My mind is jumping all over the place. I can’t concentrate.” Thinking along these lines leads only to more grumbling and more worry. Instead, we should follow the Buddha’s advice and simply notice. Soon, the mind that is not concentrated fades and it becomes possible to achieve concentration once again. The key is observing with mindfulness.

Regret is a kind of emotional affliction. Repentance is a practice.

Taking life seriously does not mean spending our whole lives meditating as if we were living in the Himalaya Mountains. In the modern world, we have to work to earn our living, but we should not get entangled in a nine-to-five existence, where we live without any view of the deeper meaning of life.
Our task is to strike a balance, to find a middle way, to learn not to overextend ourselves with extraneous activities and preoccupations, but to simplify our lives more and more. The key to finding a happy balance in modern life is simplicity.

Learning Buddhism is not only accumulating the
knowledge but also practice how to let go the self grasping.

Please refer to Buddha's teachings to find out what are the good deeds. Everyone is doing it does not mean it's correct.

If one reads life carefully, nothing is more important than life and death.

Those who think 'this is me', this is mine', are on the path of suffering.

We have to respond to problems with calm.
If our minds are not equanimous and harmonious, Then we will likely say the wrong things and make the situation worse.

It does not matter how much the environment changes, as long as we face it with calm and composure, we will certainly find a solution.

Because in our culture we overvalue the intellect, we imagine that to become enlightened demands extraordinary intelligence. In fact, many kinds of cleverness are just further obscurations. There is a Tibetan saying: “If you are too clever, you could miss the point entirely.”
Patrul Rinpoche said: “The logical mind seems interesting, but it is the seed of delusion.” People can become obsessed with their own theories and miss the point of everything. In Tibet we say: “Theories are like patches on a coat, one day they just wear off.”

Precepts are our teachers; Always remember the pain of impermanence; With faith and vow, always recite "Nanmo Amituofo" _/|\_

You can practice anywhere because the mind is with you everywhere. If you think good thoughts while sitting, you can be aware of them; if you think bad thoughts you can be aware of them also, because the place to practice is in the mind.
