Is Karate a dying art in Singapore?

Yes it was last time...pretty popular until TKD expanded so much (Majam like franchising)...LOL
So it seems that no one is taking Karate as an art liao -
Karate is a marital art.

Kyokushin karate,which advocates full contact sparring w/o any protection gear,is still quite a number in Singapore~~~
However,other full contact style karate,like Enshin and Ashihara,doesnt have that much number~~~
Other karate styles is still taught in individual schools. -
Karate seems to be having a quiet period in Singapore. TKD still around in CC from my observation.

Karate is still alive and well lah. Many CCs have them, tertiary institutions have them, etc, etc.
There is also that big Shitoryu gym at McNair Road too, with very bustling membership levels. -

Besides Shitoryu, there are many other smaller gyms, some headed by Japs also (or some others who claim that they are super high ranking black belts). Problem is that I've never trained in karate, but you seem to have done so...so I think you'll be more in the karate circle than I ever will be.
Just out of curiosity...I've seen their training before and know a few people who were instructors or blackbelts there. I actually felt that they were not too bad leh. Why don't you like the way they train there? -
What? You mean they teach Kyokushin Karate at CCs? Hmmm - wow i'll be dam.ned. All i've ever seen at CCs are scrawny pre-adolescents Kiai-ing at each other and punching air.
I need to get out more in singapore. -

Shotokan, I am not sure.
Shitoryu - as stated previously by someone else
Kenshinkai - Ngee Ann Poly (unless they switch their name back to Shitoryu?)

Originally "karate" means "tang shou" aka "Chinese hand",when it was brought to mainland Japan it later changed to "empty hand" as Japan fought China during 1930s and deemed anything from China as inferior. -

Akido is interesting too...the begining part when u start learning, you learn how to "fall" properly first. THen when u reach to a higher level, they teach you how to use the skill of using other people's movement to ur advantage (somehow abit like tai chi)
