Running shoes

Need advice on which running shoes to buy. Typically run 3 times a week. Occasionally run longer distances. Friends suggested either New Balance, Asics or Mizuno. I seem to like Mizuno shoes, but they have many types of "wave" shoes. Wonder if any one out there can share their advice on this?

I like Asics shoes. You only said how often you run. You didn't say what distance each time?

look at ure current shoes wear on the sole..if it wears too much on the outside...get a stability shoe
if it wears too much on the inside soles...get a cushioned...or motion control...
but from experience..get a stability shoe......theyre jacks of all trades..
Asics, Mizuno and New Balance are good choices.....so are brooks
if on a budget...stay on Nike Bowerman series shoes...do not get anything outside their bowerman range....practicallly all looks no go one...
go check out asics, mizuno and new balance and brooks sites to know more abt them...if u dunno wat their sites are...go google and search...
if u are lazy to look there...
get Asics 2090....if too ex..get 1090...if u want mizuno..get the wave rider...or precision..or nirvana...
if brooks..get the trance nxr or any of their previous incarnations or the adrenaline gts
if nikes..get the nike perseus(no longer bowerman series but are still good ) Air max moto is good too..
if u got the wad..go for the nike air max tailwind

choosing shoes with regards to flat foot or not are now overrated cos some runners do the opposite of wat their foot-type is meant to do...... -

u talk as if i'm stupid like that....there are women versions of mens models....most of the shoes have women versions if u looked...works same way as men versions one......

u dont go up to a sports store being a woman asking for a mens model...there are womens models of mens shoes for sure....

oh...i also like ASICS shoes, they have a long experience with regard to running shoes.
i personally use them for 12+ years liao....
and DUN buy nike shoes, they sucks at running. -

but Asics are godly among runners....anyway lazysuzy....go search for past posts in Sports...there is a more comprehensive topic on how to choose shoes and what shoes to look out for....but the topic starter didnt use a running-related topicname so that makes searching difficult... -

Do not agree all have women models .... thats's completely untrue .... what brand are you talking about ...
I said I was hoping to get some female runners opinion ... I know you will say male or female same. But I would like hear from some female runners who have tried and tested certain models. -

reebok onli the dmx light trainers is worth buying...though i find the plastic midfoot plate annoying when i walk down stairs...can practically slip if i step on the edge with the midfoot.. -
yah...reebok and nike are not designed for running...
maybe basketball or just plain old sports shoes... -

the onli good pair of reeboks i've worn are the dmx light trainers....their dmx models are pretty good..their older ones arent as good.... -
u guys/gals should read reviews found in runningtimes.com or runnersworld.com...they do more justice then listening to people who somehow bought a lower-end model of certain brands.....
every brand from adidas to avia(sg avia models are copies but if u go states..they have their original built for running models...) has their damn good and normal models....
more often than not u see the cheapo models of certain brands...and when u compare adidas/nike/reebok to asics...its like comparing toyota to ferrari...asics cater for serious runners who demand top notch performance but the other brands cater for serious runners...recreational and look-good consumers......u just need to noe which models to look out for...
if u still dont want the hassle...settle for asics....asics 1090 and 2090 have women models...theyre pretty stable and if luck is with u...2100 might be selling in singapore...it was just released by asics last december...
if u want a cushion shoe...get the nike air pegasus..got women ones if u are looking for them.....other brands including asics use the nike pegasus as a standard for their cushioned shoes...been wearing them for close to a year..never failed me once... -
The Nike Pergasus (spelling) I think cost about 200+. Whereas the 1090 cost about 150.
So for one pair of of Nike Pergasus you can get one 1090 and (for girls) two pairs of Charles and Keith sandals.
I am not saying nike is lousy. But it is nust that $ for $, it is not "worth it".
Of course for value for money, people will say that NB is better. My 1090 wearing out out. I will be trying out NB although I am perfectly happy with my 1090. Because I run more and more so the shoes like wearing out faster.
Also more important for runners is the foot type. you need to know what food type for you at get the proper "fit" and "type" of shoes. I think that is the MOST important rather then thinking what model to get.
Also not all models will suit you. For example I have "wide" feet, so I need a wider width models. I think not all brands/models/shops stock wide width shoes. -

and please dont compare the peg with the 1090(the 1090 is a low end stability trainer)...if u wanna compare...compare the peg with the gel cumulus....and if u noe the price of the cumulus(the cumulus is up to par with the peg's cushionability)...u'd probably get a peg instead...
anywaes...u shouldnt compare stability shoes with cushioned shoes...2 different things...choose a shoe based on how ure previous ones worn out...not by how ure foot type is...nowadays ppl with their own foot types dont seem to run they way their foot types are supposed to run...like for me...i have a low arch but i underpronate....so basically...some ppl's foot type work differently than they should...
if u run for quite some time and take the time to try out new shoes.......u'd noe wat models to look out for...
i suggest ppl do a search in the forums abt running shoes as there are 2 previous ones and have been discussed et nauseum..... -

Depending on ur feet type, you could ask the retailer to suggest which types to buy
