Latest news, the take over of Manchester United is official.
Malcolm Glazer has about 62% shares.
Fans in England are very unhappy and there have been renewed talks of a break away by forming their own club.
MG had turn a bottom Amercian Football team to a Champions.
My thoughts are, since Man U is not doing well recently, it is time for a change.
We need someone who can shut the Russian up and who better than an American.
Post yr thoughts if this is for better or for worst for Manchester United. -
Football is not simply all about sports anymore, it has become a platform of business. With MG taking more control of Man U might signal a wave of changes, this can be both good and bad.
A reason which the fans are unhappy about is that they fear the 1st thing MG will do now that he has taken over is to totally revamping the club. Since nobody likes change as it brings about insecurity, thus the fans are unhappy

I think MG is trying to capitalize on the up coming popularity of soccer in US.
The major Sports in US is Basketball, Baseball, American Football.
He is an American and he knows America.
When soccer becomes the new major sports in States, do you know how much money he is going to make with merchandising.
Hell, he should be able to pump more money in to the club.
Then he will be a match with Chelsea. -
I am personally having mixed feelings about this takeover. Don't know whether he's good news or bad news. Just hope he doesn't let United go the path of Leeds.....

duno wats so bad about the sale.... that guy not stupid oso... he noe manu can get $$$ so wont let manu lose revenue in anyway... they will break even in a few years la... but is good to see that they cant steal or con players from other teams for a few season...

MG now has 71.8%, bringing MU a 265 million pound debt.
only time will tell if it is good or bad.
he is strictly a businessman, no interest in soccer. -

oh.. it may be terrible if the analysis is right..
he may actually pull out of the TV rights thing and to watch MUFC play on TV, it's like a pay-per-view..
if he makes a mint with such a move, i can see other big clubs doing the same to be in the same financial bracket as MUFC.. and the also-ran clubs will die...
other than that, i really don't care about MUFC... -

I'm sorry but th Major sports in North America are Football, Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, Golf, Tennis, Nascar, Poker, Arena Football, then Soccer. Soccer will not be ever be a major sport here until they start getting 5-4, 4-3, etc. scores. Americans want either sustained excitment, high scoring or both. Soccer doesn't provide either. Every other sport has a sudden death situation like a last minute goal, last play or buzzer beater play to decide a game. Soccer doesn't, heck, we normally don't even know when the game will actually stop, the timing isn;t set. Example: Basketball (barring OT) is 4 quaters of 15 mintues, Baseball 9 innings etc. Soccer is 2 45-minute halves plus injury time which is how long? Only the referee knows.
For its defense, I know friends who have gotten into soccer and say its a strategic based sport which they think is interesting and is growing on them but no way it's going to takeover any of the sports they're used to watching.
