this lone striker thing is clearly not working. rooney is not that kind of striker, he's more of a central forward. then again neither is owen, he's too short and light to play target man. for a moment it seems wright-philips was the striker instead of shrek.
joe cole may have scored but he's not lefty enough. i think becky's not required now that philips is doing the right flank. gerrard and lampard together not that great, both are playing below par; their surging runs and pipoint passes have been muted. why the heck is becks taking corners? thought lampard has done consistently well for chelsea in set plays. in short, the whole game was a mess. i would have defoe do the lone ranger thing, rooney can sit behind him with gerrard and lampard supporting the middle. becks can go shine posh's boots..
final analysis, sven goran erikkson isn't the right man.
