Hmmm..Schmeical was definitely an important player. But I would not say that he was more important than anyone else.
They were a great team, with great players. Take anyone out and things could have been different.
Cantona was a class act. Mark Hughes, Andy Cole, Dwight Yorke were in their prime years. Who can forget Ole Gunnar Solskjear?
Then there's Gary Pallister, Steve Bruce, Dennis Irwin.
Ryan Giggs was in good form, Beckham, Scholes, Nicky Butt, Nevilles were young, promising and good.
So there's really a lot of good talent in the team and more importantly functioned well as a team. No surprises that they were sucessful.
Back to the current team, I think they lack depth. Especially in midfield. They will find it hard to replace the driving force of Roy Keane. However, good thing is there have got Wayne Rooney. If SAF can build a team ard Rooney, they are certanily capable of bringing back the good old days.
