england favourites to win the world cup in 2006 in Germany next year must be a joke.
england always enter any tournament as one of the favourites to win, but alway failed when the tournament gets tougher.
Brazil is the favourites without any doubt, followed by argentina and holland.
england will be delighted with a quarter-final. if go beyond the quarters is already exceeding expection liao.
anyway eriksson will be leaving regardless if england wins or not.
who will be his replacements? -

England is an overated team, the media in England likes to boast as well. People who think England can win are usually fans who supported EPL clubs and hardly or in fact dont watch other leagues. Without watching the other leagues, these fans will surely think players playing in the EPL are the best, therefore felt England can win the World Cup.
Maradona and Pele (great players doesnt mean great coaches or great predictors of the game) did backed England to win it before, but can we really trust them? Lol, Pele had been backing England to win the WC since 1990, its been almost 15 years, and his predictions havent come true, well may be this time he might just get lucky.

If their players can keep fit,and injuries occurs to the rivals major players or rather if greece can win euro and not qualify for the world cup,why not?

England can have a good chance.
Cos if you base on Champions League & UEFA Cup performances of the EPL teams, many of the english players have good exp with world class players of the other leagues, so with this exp, it will prove very useful for the England team.
What;s more, todays football is more about athletism.
You can do that if you play in the EPL, all the rough and puff can improve a footballer's athletism
If you notice, player who do well in EPL (be in english or non-english), do well in their national teams too, cos they bring in their athletism and skills to the national team, RVN, C.Ronaldo, Drogba, Essien, Robben, jus to name a few...
Italy perfected their "cantenaccio" in the 80s & 90s because they had a superb adversary to challange with, Maradona.
Do consider Mexico as a potential dak horse in the next world cup.
Also, never underestimate Germany, the more people write them off, the more they will surprise you.
German team is good if you consider the likes of Ballack, Kuranyi, Lahm, Kahn, Bastian, Metzelder, and the next star striker, LUKAS PODOLSKI of Cologne....you have been warned..... -

They may not be favorites, but they certainly are capable of winning it.
They definitely have the players to win a world cup. If they can put it together, England can be champions. -
Look at the players England have.... owen scores lots of goals, rooney mayb hot headed but what can we say abt his talent. Lampard n Steve.G 2 of the best midfielders. Beckham is 1 of the best Set piece taker, passer n crosser. Their 2 centre back Terry n Rio ( when in top form) are 1 of the best pairing. Thats y ppl say they are 1 of the fav. They will win if they can play as a team.

I say they are good not just because i watch them play week in week out. Even football experts who not only follow the EPL says this is England best chance of winning the world cup. Not many countries has quality player like England. I nv says the cfm win the WC but the chances are there.

True, England stand a chance of winning it and indeed have some world class players.
But please EPL fans and England supporters please repsect other teams and other world class players. Dont say until only England got World Class players or that EPL is the only place where the world class players play. You know why also got people hate England supporters? Same reasons why people hate Chlesea FC. Give credit when its due to other teams also.
If you think that way then all i can say that your perspective is very narrow and that your football horizon is not broad enough. I can say you are a True EPL and England fan, but i cannot say you are a TRUE soccer fan, coz true fans knows how to RESPECT and APPRECIATE other teams. -
