Why S'pore basketball loses out to S'pore soccer?

Our national soccer team is much popular than our national bball team. and there's an increasing number of youngsters who take up bball nowadays but S'pore national soccer team is still more popular. why is this so? state your comments.

Playing BBall is convienent. 1 person can play liao, there are more BBall courts than soccer fields.Why more courts that fields? Fields take up too much space hehe I guess

but gov make footballers have special privileges and high salary. Average players in leagues makes about $3000 to $6000 a mnth, with the funds of a few millions dollars from the gov. Has it occured to anyone that most soccer players are malays and basketball players chinese? hmmmm
Anyway, if BB was given better recognisation than their current standing, i think it will prosper at SEA games level. -
singapore basketball also got competition like youth cup and men's open, but don't have a proper league like s-league for soccer.. and only the chinese papers got show news and results of local matches while english news paper only show EPL and Sea games stuff .. But anyway, Gahman already claim bball is a merit sport in s'pore and also revamp the BAS courts le .. improvement bit by bit lo

Just that government choose to built so much bball courts dunno for wad.. My house neighbourhood has 2 bball courts. 0 street soccercourts. -

you want street soccer. Your area must have a field big enough and far enough from nearest block. Best if you can find space just next to your block or your grassroot chairman block. Then full house, 50 to 100 youths everyday, you get noise pollution all day and night. pom pom pom pom. No grassroot leaders will allowed these courts near to their blocks. They usually suggest locations far away and not next to their blocks. They don;t want the pom pom noise to affect them and their precious children.
Those youths not staying nearby will hang on whole day to the court, they will defecate and pee at the nearest hdb blk staircases. And if no place, they will spillover to the void decks for football. Then police will be called for public nuisance cases and noise disturbances.
What is more appropriate is a sports hub for every hdb estate where youth gather. that way , whatever happens there, it does not disturb anyone. -

i look at other estates (at least the ones i see at Jurong/Pioneer) Can you believe it? 2 basketball courts + a mini skate park. separated by a road. On top of that, they're gonna have a sports hub (with field soccer) just 4-5 streets away.
Then i look at my own neighbourhood, they fu cking sold this big plot of land that used to be a Community Center which could house at least 3basketball courts to some FOOTBALL CLUB that ran billards, Karaoke.... it eventually closed down after awhile and it has since remained as private property.
There is NO court within 2km of my estate cept a school which of course is out of bounds
Find the MP. but be sure the court not next to your blk but the grassroots chairman blk. Then he can take care of the courts. -

They should get more Indians and Malays to try out basketball...
And more Chinese into Soccer...our society is deemed to be multi-racial...but everyone can see there's a distinct ethnic flavor in all the sports locally -
