Why S'pore basketball loses out to S'pore soccer?

becos singapore sports are wasting money in favour of the CMI soccer team! that's why~!

5 reasons:
1) soccer is a worldwide sport, more popular than any other
2) we have been brainwashed by weekly doses of the EPL
3) even coffeetalk, soccer will be a sure subject to be brought up
4) it is an unpredictable sport......singapore can possibly beat brazil in soccer
but in basketball, no chance to beat the us team even in a million yrs
5) soccer is more exciting because the game can swing round either way for
the whole 90 mins, but in basketball, watching the first three quarters can
be tiresome and is really a waste of time coz of the outrageously high
scores (just watch the last quarter enough oredi) -

pls la all u soccer fans dun insult this sport. singapore basketball loses out to soccer simply cos the government does not give enuff support or encouragement. in terms of soccer, i believe singapore isnt very good. and the fact that singaporeans are short and not fit for basketball is bull. in the NBA there are players who are shorter than 190cm. look at allen iverson, the league's top scorer is only 183cm. if ppl are willing to work hard to do well in basketball, then definately basketball will be more popular. i believe we have the talents but we dont have good coaches or facilities. take america for example, they have excellent coaches, superb facilities, indoor courts and gyms. widespread media coverage on basketball. recently i went to china. their TV has advertisements on basketball stuff, and they even have their own pro basketball league. the CBA or chinese basketball assoc.
the govt claims bball to be merit sport, i dont see no shit difference now from last time. all talk no action. basketball still not popular. the BAS is so freaking small. 2 courts. whats the damn point? its not even open to public for free i think. unless u pay to play, even if it is, its only a specific period of time. our local mediacorp dont broadcast NBA games like they used to in the Michael jordan era. many ppl claim basketball to be boring after MJ retired but i think it just got better. new talents like lebron or tmac or older players like kobe and iverson are simply interesting to watch. but i dun see whats wrong with broadcasting nba games rather than shows which no one even bothers to watch.
one japanese player recently made it to the NBA. his name is Yuta tabuse. he aint very tall. hes not playing now and has dropped out of the league for unknown reasons.
i believe singapore will one day succeed in basketball like other asian countries are like china or philippines. just hafta wait and see... -
al these all false. this only reflects your poor knowledge in basketball. i also watch soccer and i know what goes on. number 1 is definately wrong. bball is also a worldwide sport, popular in asia, australasia, europe, africa and of cos america. in nigeria in africa, basketball is considered the most popular sport, in cambodia too, in philippines, in china, in european countries like italy and russia basketball is doing extremely well as they even have their pro league like their soccer does too. 2) NBA also popular like EPL. 3) soccer brought up maybe amongst ur soccer friends, it all depends on who u really mix with mah... 4) basketball is even more unpredictable than soccer...just ask anyone who follows the NBA. or u could watch it urself. i aint lying and im saying the truth. 5)soccer is exciting, but basketball is too. many of u soccer players claim bball to be boring. but u guys dont play bball so u guys tink its boring. but in actual fact, the NBA is really really exciting. i doubt singapore will beat brazil in soccer cos thats plain bull. blaming on poor facilities n coaches are the weak point of singporean sportsman, no matter in BB or soccer or any others. Always pop up with reasons when they lose or cun qualify. 1 word SG sportsman are just too LAZY.

well, to a certain extent, yes, facilities not very important, but imagine u have a court with a bent rim and no net, theres no point playing. and when it rains everyday u cant play outdoors. gyms are really good in that they are EXTRA to help a player improve, why not just go to the gym for a workout, strength training and stuff and then go for a game of basketball? wouldnt it be great? now everything is pay pay and pay. use indoor courts need to pay, not that we have many in singapore...=(
