World Cup 2006 finals draw!

Anyone watching the draw later? i think Supersports showing the live draw at around 330...
Will be interesting to see which unlucky top seed will draw the likes of Holland, Portugal, and Czech Republic who are all unseeded
Anyway, here's how the draw will take place.
DRAW POTS:
Pot One: Argentina, Brazil, England, France, Germany, Italy, Mexico and Spain
Pot Two: Australia, Angola, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Togo, Tunisia, Ecuador, Paraguay
Pot Three: Croatia, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine
Pot Four: Iran, Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Costa Rica, Trinidad & Tobago, United States
Special pot: Serbia & Montenegro
HOW THE DRAW WILL WORK:
• The eight seeded teams will be drawn into eight different groups. Germany have already been allocated Group A and Brazil Group F.
• The eight unseeded European sides, in pot three, will be drawn.
• The lowest-ranked European side, Serbia and Montenegro, will be allocated to one of the groups containing either Brazil, Argentina or Mexico to ensure there is no more than two European sides in any group.
• The pot containing the five African countries, Australia and the two remaining South American sides, pot two, will be drawn.
• The pot containing the four Asian countries, the USA, Costa Rica and Trinidad, pot four, will be drawn. -

France takes on Switzerland again in their opening game.
Portugal got into a relatively easy grp alongside Mexico, iran and Angola.

Overall, I dun think this is a good world cup draw. U see teams who played each other in the qualifying or in the last world cup together (Eng & Swe, Fra & Swi). Draw isnt kind to ARgentina again as they landed in Group of DEath yet again.
I just hope all the good players are well and fit for the world cup. -

Very tough group. But the usual faves should make it. I take Argentina and Holland.

Mexico and Portugal to advance with Iran the dark horse.

Frankly, this is the most difficult group to play. All are potential candidates to qualify with veterans Italy the most likely seasoned camapigner to confirm their place.

Brazil should make it but don't write off a Guus Hiddink-inspired Australia. I'd say 50-50 for the remaining 3 teams.

Togo
France should easily make it unless they flop again...with the swiss waiting in the wings and the tireless Koreans ever-ready to pounce. Togo is unknown quantity though.
Group H

For some strange reason, i'd wager Spain will flop again, with Ukraine and possibly Saudi Arabia sneaking through. -
i dont think group E is difficult.

And their double over Mexico in the recent qualifying campaign was no fluke. They have some great players in Landon Donovan and Brian McBride and cannot be discounted.
Ghana is relatively unknown but already have some great midfielders (or destroyers) in Stephen Appiah and Michael Essien. It's still a tough call. -

They are a good team currently lying in top 10 in fifa rankings. They are quite unlucky to be grouped with Italy and the Czechs.. -
Noticed the trends for the past world cups...
At least one dark horse will make it to the final rounds of the competition
2002 - South Korea (semis)
1998 - Croatia (semis)
1994 - Bulgaria (semis)
1990 - Cameroon (quarters)
So.. take your pick for dark horse of 2006!
For me.. i will pick Serbia.
That menas Argentina will fall at the first hurdle again.. haha -

Group C is quite screwed up.
Anyway, you never know what's gonna happen. for all you know angola may make it to the quarterfinals. -

Punters can bet on draws throughout the tournament.. -

USA hardly does well in the World Cup. And the reason why they are so high up in the rankings is because they're way too good in the North American Zone.
