Rooney has the capability to inspire himself & others to play well...
although he still has to learn to control not to mouth off.. that frequently.. -

I can see Henry as one.. But in his case it's different, he doesn't give instructions to the team, but he's just too good. And the team looks up to him.. and he's commited so I still feel he's the most eligible.. -

I just dont feel the extra motivation if i imagine rooney or owen with captain armband in my team...
I feel its players like vieira or lampard...Have to be in the thick of action to guide his team mates with his vision...Whats impt is age and experience bah...
Feel quite weird to have a 20 year old shouting at you to do something...
IMO players like maldini, lampard, keane who are experienced and always getting involved makes the best captains.... -

Strikers cant be good captains because the are selfish. They lead the team by example, banging in lots of goals and inspiring teammates. I think Henry is also maybe too whiny to be captain?
A good skipper would be tony adams, commanding and always there to stick up for his teammates. I've never heard adams backstabbing other teammates behind their back. -

An example of good striker captain is Alan Shearer.. He's been there since ages ago.. and still leading out his team..
Why can't a player whom score goals, be a captain ? Isn't Lampard scoring a few? Even John Terry gets his fair share of goals.. so maybe those whom can't score make the best captain.. Petr Cech ? One more thing, Henry had the most assists last season.. talk abt being selfish..
For me personally.. respect is the key word.. Alan Shearer is the captain becos players and fellow professionals respect him.. If your teammates doesn't respect you, even if you are at the grand age of 40yrs old, it doesn't matter..
Henry might be a magical player.. but if his gooners teammates respect him.. i can't see why he can't be the captain..
Rooney like-wise.. might be 20yrs old.. but if the older players respect his ability and his desire to work for the team... Being skipper isn't much of a problem for the boy wonder...
