  I think whoever takes over the England post, he must have Marco van Basten's style of selecting players based solely on performances. Currently, Michael Owen and David Beckham are garunteed first team spots even when they flop badly while playing for their clubs. I think that Michael Owen and David Beckham should be made to earn their spots just like anybody else. In addition David Beckaham should not be captain and Michael Owen should not be vice captain. I think John Terry and Steven Gerrard deserve the post of captain more than Owen or Beckham.

  remember graham taylor ill fated reign as england manager, remembered as england not playing in world cup 94 and out in first round in european championship in 1992 in Sweden and playing long ball? What abt the reign of kevin keegan, out of euro2000 in first round and quitted after england lost first match in qualifying for world cup 2002 against germany at wembley. keegan is tactically naive, yet he was given the job on grounds of being passionate abt football.
  
  There is a dearth of good tactical english managers at the moment. Bobby Robson is good, but he is old. I still prefer foreign proven managers taking over england as none of the english candidates mentioned are proven to take over the job of england national team. Hiddink is good enuff to take over and he is my choice to take over the england job, just look at this credentials compared to those english candidates mentioned and he got experience in managing international teams, like south korea, holland and australia national teams. mclaren nor sam has the experience of managing international football b4 though.
