4 4 1 1 should suit the current game more, with a DM in general midfield position he can drop back to help out if needs arise, wingers can be used in such formation to assist in attack cutting in from the wing or just bring to the by line and when under attack can revert to 4 5 1 to give more bite to the mid. actually if man utd can get the ZZ from Real that would have solved their current problem if they can't defend they might as well do a all out attack push Ron into striker position and let ZZ do his magic from the midfield, while using smith and as their holding midfield.

a bit hard to explain how they should move in different situations tho..but i guess its not hard.. to see in this context anywat.. that the 1 is full time stationed in front of centrebacks.. -

Roe Coker might be young, but i think he might do a better job than fletcher.. well at least he is specially trained to be playing the CM/DM role

Carrick is indeed another good option. Though, Barton and Nolan can get you more goals whilst getting about the dirty midffield job.

yes, mufc lost due to two reasons, rio was not playing and we don't have a "midfield".
with a midfield with Ronaldo, LW, KRichardson CM, Giggs, CM & Fletcher, RW, it will take just one SG to own us. and they did.
well, I would have prefer Park and Smith in. but I beginning to see the bleak future for MS, LB. He seems destined to leave.
by the way, on this topics, I would suggest SAF to get Nolan, cause he is young, so he is "KEANE" to do well, but also to go China.
To get two 7Footers in, or even Yao Ming, cause it seems most teams are going back to BEANPOLE tatics. -

the midfield problem is more problematic
Currently! there are not even 1!!!!! capable centre midfielder....fletcher is hopeless,only capable on subs bench,play once in a blue moon..smith is a FC,oshea?he's a jack of all trades master of none!,scholes?i wonder if he will play again!
The Centre midfield lacks leadership....lacks creativity,the drive..arh! everything!
