Is the away goals rule fair?

  I don't think so.
  
  One side who scores the away goal in a 1-1 aggregate score will go through but is that a true gauge of the team's ability? Hell no.
  
  I rather have the 2 legged format be abolished and be replaced by a single tie format at a neutral stadium.
  
  Alleviates the fixture congestion problem also.

  yes it is unfair cos the team who score better wins but too many neutral match is difficult to arrange... semifinal and final neutral match is good enuff...

  It is fair as both team play away and home......but the amount of crowd is different.......but it is still fair in my humble opinion

  Its fair I think.
  
  It doesnt encourage home team to settle for a draw, knowingly if the away team score and the match is tied, the away team goes through.
  
  With home advantage, it should favour the home team, but if the away team score, the home team would need to score one more than the away team to qualify, that makes the tie an interesting one isn't it.

  It is VERY fair. Home teams get huge advantages in European matches. Visiting teams would be obessed with defending if not for this rule.

  It gives the incentive for the away team to score at least a goal and not focus on keeping a clean sheet only

  i think it's fair too. it is better than letting pk to decide the teams' fate which is 50-50 chances.

  Away goals rule should also apply during Championship promotion playoffs.
  
  Goal difference should be used during the UCL first group stage instead of head-to-head.
