One theory is that 95% of punters all over the world buy Spain win. Spain will surely win and that will bust all bookie syndicates. So they "restrict" the number that Spain score in order to win back from those who bet high scores.
On the other hand, Spain is a great footballing nation (though perpetual underachievers), would any player accept bribes?

Rafael Marquez, a great player of today's times, touched the ball with his fingertips when it was swung into the Mexican penaly box. Which serious player in a major final would actually do that unless it was going into goal? Then in another instance Omar Bravo misses the penalty and another clear cut chance later but did not really look excruciatingly dejected?

Refs earn $40,000 per match at World Cups, if a bookie comes in and pay $100,000, would he not be tempted? -
clear case of kelong was Ukraine vs Tunisia... clear handball so much so that the ref gives a corner but doesn't even attempt to give the penalty to Tunisia..
anyway, the last world cup was disgraceful.. clearly the ref was bought by the koreans in their game against italy...
brazil was given the cup because of the game they threw in france so that france will be champs in their home country...
this is going the way of the olympics where the kelong and corruption has reached horrendous proportions -
