A tactical blunder as far as the match is concern .
1stly , he played a 4-5-1 formation , like England , Rooney upfront , like England , Paulette doesn't have any decent service , bascially invincible , like some said .
Is 4-4-2 a more effective formation against France ? i think can work more threat .
Then he took out the only striker that posed the most lethal aerial threat - Pauletta !
After taking out Paulette , the Portuguese boys kept pumping balls after balls into the box , to who ? Thuram or Gallas ?
Tactically , there is a talking point . -

If you all are aware of this French team of 98? In 2002 it was a disastrous outing for them having knocked out even in the first round and an embarrassing exit. What the coach do afterward? He LL no choice gotta recall back the old ppl of the 98 team for desperate measure.
Relying on old guards seem to pay off for French in this World Cup but one wonder after this Cup, the old man team still can play in Euro 2008 or even World Cup 2010 ?
French will experience the same problem as the German team of the early to mid-90s team when they keep on retaining the old players to get glory for the country but after some time. age will caught up and it will be a uphill task to climb. Germany been through that phase and now their hopes is on youngsters like Podolski, Stweinger, Klose, Lahm, Friederich etc.. on Euro 08 and WCup 2010.
French may get the 2006 WC but if the situation doesn't improve with new influx of good young talented players, they will remain anoymous and trophy-less for the next decade. The only spark I see in French team so far is that guy Riberry he is good
Sidenote: Germany of 2002 squad is even more lousy than 2006 but reach the Finals and yet this better team is out at Semi-Finals so I believe LUCK play a BIG part in soccer tournament. Let's all see the Euro 2008 Germany squad on fire -

I don't think Rooney is good in international level, even he had a free role up front and with a strong midfield support he also can't have shot on target. And don't think he will go far as the way he played. Just look at his strike rate Caps 33 with Goals 11 compare to Pedro Pauletta Caps 86 with Goals 47.

France do have a better team work linking from defend to midfield. They defended well and with 3 very good midfielder they out run Portugal in the midfield, Portugal midfield linking to forward is totally cut out by france.
It a very good defensive game from France, it work well against the big team.
We will see two best defensive teams in the final, nowaday is not the striker who will win the match. -
