Barcelona's Rijkaard confirms Puyol left out for rotation

Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard admitted yesterday that he left out Carles Puyol from their 3-0 win over Osasuna as part of a rotation policy.
Puyol missed the game and Rijkaard said: "There was no problem with Puyol. He is not injured.
"It is part of a rotation policy to give all players their time on the pitch.
"He remains being club captain."

Real Madrid sports director Predrag Mijatovic is convinced he will eventually land his No1 transfer target, AC Milan midfield ace Kaka.
"Kaka represented one of the promises made to our supporters by Calderon, who knows it would be important to have such a high-quality player on our team," he told the AS newspaper.
"During the summer we had several conversations with Kaka and his agent and I honestly believed that we could reach an agreement.
"The player expressed his wish to come here and the complicated situation caused by the match-fixing scandal made me think that Kaka would finally land in Madrid," he continued.
"In the end, Milan did not allow him to leave and he preferred not to put any pressure on his club, which he is very fond of.
"But we are sure that he will come sooner or later," added the former Fiorentina striker.

AC Milan chief blasts Real Madrid over Kaka claims

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani hasn't appreciated comments from Real Madrid last night that Kaka will "sooner or later" move to Spain.
"I met the president of Real Madrid and we have talked about a series of things. Kaka has only just renewed his contract until 2011," said Galliani.
"We're not a feeder club for Real Madrid.
"Milan are strong, we have five world champions and a great group of players. No-one will leave us."
Galliani also remarked: "I don't want to start something with Real Madrid, but in the last five years the success of Milan is well in advance of the Spanish club.
"We do not suffer any inferiority complex. We're No1 in the UEFA rankings for the last five years." -

Barcelona captain Carles Puyol insists he had no problems sitting out Saturday's win over Osasuna.
"I've had some injuries and couldn't do a full preseason. But little by little I'm getting stronger," said Puyol.
"Those who know me, know that I always want to play. But it is clear that the most important thing is the team. Here there are great players, the coach must select who he thinks will suit the game best and that is what he did the other day." -

plus oleguer did not start. it's thuram + marquez. you dare till me it's not a formidable pairing? marquez had a great WC btw.
Gerrard and lampard played 60+ matches last season. and their form now is dwindling.
if we signed so many great players, the only sensible thing to do is to rest players when needed.
if we don't rest against a midtable side like osasuna, who do you rest against? when real madrid visits?
so to summarise,
1) there is no disrespect to the opponents. Ronnie and messi and eto'o started too btw.
2) there is nothing wrong to rest players.
