Referee Graham Poll could be suspended over claims made by Chelsea about his performance on Sunday.
In an almost unprecedented move, Soho chiefs have stopped short of backing an official in a dispute and, instead, have called for evidence of wrongdoing.
Blues players insist Poll told them during the 2-1 defeat at Spurs that "their discipline is out of order and they needed to be taught a lesson."
Left-back Ashley Cole was extremely critical of Poll's decisions and cited comments made to team-mate Frank Lampard during the clash.
Now both players will be asked for testimony by the FA - and The Sun says Lampard will confirm Poll made the contentious statement which has called his integrity into question.
Soho Square bigwigs issued a statement yesterday in which they said they would ask for the comments of players as well as Poll, the linesmen and the fourth official at White Hart Lane.
An FA spokesman confirmed: "We are communicating with the four match officials as well as Chelsea and Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard individually regarding the claims made. The priority at this stage is to gather information."
Poll has simply insisted he did not make the comment about 'teaching Chelsea a lesson'.
He also dismissed Cole's comments as 'tittle tattle'

Refs chief keen to meet with Chelsea boss Mourinho

Refs chief Keith Hackett is seeking peace talks with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho to end a feud with match officials.
He said: "Mr Mourinho is a world-class, top manager and I will be privileged to speak to him - and I am pleased he wants to do that with me. It shows he cares and wants to understand.
"We have already been in touch since Sunday and I will meet him again - at the club's training ground, if necessary - to run through a number of issues regarding referees." -

Chelsea skipper Terry still baffled by dismissal

Chelsea captain John Terry admits he's baffled by his dismissal against Tottenham on Sunday.
Terry was red-carded by referee Poll for two bookable offences after clashing with former Sunday league team-mate Ledley King in their 2-1 defeat at Tottenham on Sunday.
The dismissal was Terry's first in 288 games for the club and he is unhappy at Poll's explanations for his dismissal.
Terry said: "The first foul on Dimitar Berbatov was a yellow card, no doubt about it.
"The second one, I am still really baffled by it. I have looked at it myself over and over again.
"Ledley King and I fell to the floor, we got up, we had words but I used to play Sunday football with him and it was just the pair of us shouting at each other.
"I walked away. Pascal Chimbonda pushed me in the back and I carried on running.
"On the pitch, Graham Poll said to me the second yellow card was for the barge on Hossam Ghaly where I kept running.
"After the game he said it was for the fall when Ledley King and I fell. I am just really disappointed that it is my first time sent-off for Chelsea."
Terry will miss tonight's Carling Cup game against Aston Villa with the resulting one-match suspension.

Referee Graham Poll walked from the Goodison Park pitch with the home fans howling ``cheat'' at the World Cup official as Arsenal booked their place in the Carling Cup quarter-finals.
Poll enraged Everton supporters for sending off James McFadden after just 18 minutes of the tie, which was settled by Emmanuel Adebayor's 85th-minute header.
Television replays seemed to suggest that Poll was telling Everton players that McFadden had called him a cheat, even though the Scottish forward is understood to have denied that accusation to his team-mates in the dressing room.
But with Poll involved in controversy already following his handling of Chelsea's defeat at Tottenham and his dismissal of John Terry, the locals were not going to give him an inch.
But Poll was then thrust into the spotlight when Andrew Johnson fell in the box under pressure from three defenders, with Philippe Senderos looking to have committed the foul.
Poll waved away penalty appeals and Goodison Park erupted in anger. McFadden clearly said far too much for Poll's liking as he raced past the referee, who instantly produced a red card and Everton were down to 10 men.
Poll has now issued 66 yellow and three red cards this season, and this latest incident is also certain to be heavily scrutinised.
Yet again a referee has managed to steal the limelight in a game that should be all about the players. We now have too many arrogant officials who delight, it seems, in putting themselves to the fore. Graham Poll is certainly at the very top of the list -

who asks chelsea always hog the limelight for the wrong reasons. a little bit the manager blow a mountain out of a molehill, tapping of youth players from leeds, accusing frisk of entering to frankie dressing room when he did not, was in the same hotel with ashley cole discussing moving to chelsea when cole was an arsenal player, yet he denied meeting cole and claimed he was in italy, but CCTV dun lie pal. -

I think poll didnt made the comments, chelsea needed to be taught a lesson. remember all refs carried a microphone with them, if he said that, it would be heard by the assistants and the ref assessor at the match, and also the commentators. CCTV or microphone dun lie, people do.
I think frankie and cole put words into poll's mouth, taking a cue from mourinho, who accuses frisks of entering into barcelona's dressing room at half time, or denying being at the same hotel with cole to discuss abt tranferring to chelsea from arsenal -
it look as if they're trying to bully the ref into something lor.. the way they behave is like they're above the law.. just like what happen to danish ref after the Barca match.. seriously.. i also agreed that Chelsea should be tot a lesson and i bet Roman will soon get tired with all these childish stuff and move on to something else.. by then lets see if Chelsea will still be able to act like a bully...
all teams, Man Utd included, has at some point in time be subjected to unfair decision and thats football lor.. its some of such decisions, together with some superb football and some funny momment that adds up to give the exictment in football with all these and by adding in the video and other technology advance stuff into football will be a certain extend takes away alot of fun from football.. and maybe by then, we'll be better off playing FM or CM game on the net.. -

which team has not been on the receiving end of dubious ref decisions? does that mean ref hate all these teams?
if everytime u court a girl and they ignore you. maybe its not the girls' problem, it could be yours.
