i believe it's on a first come first serve basis...actually,i prefer to play soccer on basketball court cos got lines all over,which makes it better to play.n the goal posts,the two poles below the basketball board make good practice for shooting cos it's smaller than those found in fields.
Furthermore,fields are hard to find in sg,and u need quite a lot to play the whole field.who wants to play one half of the field? sorry to basketball players...
this phenomenon happened back in my secondary school days...we,the soccer players always play in the only basketball court in sch even though there r people playing Bball.at least,we were polite enuff not to ask them Siam!
we just join in the fun...can u imagine? a basketball court full of people playing soccer and basketball.It looked as if a carnival was taking place.haha! i still remember Bball players ganna RAM(hantam) by our Roberto Carlos shots.soccer players also sometimes hit by stray bBalls.wanna noe what happened in e end? no there wasn't a fight....eventually,the bBall players were FED Up n join us in the world's most popular game-SOCCER.
PS:i'm proud to say that e Goal 2010 Coach,Danny Nielsen watched us play soccer in the Bball court after sch cos he came in our to use the toilet.Hint:my ex-sch was near now-defunct Jalan Besar stadium. -
