Lee Bowyer's agent is continuing talks with Liverpool - despite the Leeds midfielder's proposed move to Anfield hitting a stumbling block over personal terms.
Bowyer is believed to have rejected Liverpool's offer of around £35,000 per week, putting the £9million transfer on hold.
Reports claim the former Charlton player is holding out for more cash, despite Liverpool's offer being almost twice what he currently earns per week at Elland Road.
But both sides are optimistic that an agreement can be reached, and Bowyer's agent David Geiss confirmed: 'Negotiations are ongoing.'
Anfield manager Gerard Houllier hopes to secure the transfer before his team set off for a pre-season game against Le Havre on Friday.

Liverpool's new Senegalese striker El Hadji Diouf says he is already feeling at home with the Merseyside club.
Diouf, signed from Lens, explained: 'I have just arrived, but already it feels like a beautiful family.
'I have seen what a great club it is. I went and met each player to introduce myself.
'Emile Heskey told me I could rely on him to learn the language. Michael Owen was also here and I had a talk with John Arne Riise. They are already my brothers. I felt they all knew me.'
