I'm unsure as to whether the info above on the duration to attain a black belt for Judo is accurate. I do not know about how long it takes here in Singapore, but in other countries, it takes quite a bit longer than just 3 years. I would even stick my neck out to say that 6 years is just a generous estimate.Originally posted by anfuni:for Judo is 6 steps to black :
White belt
Yellow belt
Orange belt
Green belt
Blue belt
Brown belt
Black belt
as for the time taken for each sports to attain black blet is about 3 years to 6 years.![]()
The practice of demotion for Judo does not apply in Singapore. In fact, it is also very difficult to get demoted in Japan where Judo is founded. You do not get demoted simply by not winning enough compeitions or randori but committed serious disciplinary infringements. Even so this is quite unheard of but it do exists.Originally posted by lejabron:I'm unsure as to whether the info above on the duration to attain a black belt for Judo is accurate. That being said, in Judo, the belt colour shold not be the one all end all, since I've ever witnessed competitions whereby black belts lost to browns, even blue. In Judo, I have ever heard that one can even be demoted to a lower rank if they do not win enuff randori.
So, if one is really interested in martila arts, the belt colour shold only serve as a sign that one should be more humble and train harder, rather than to relax and slack since one thinks he's already there.
my 2 cents
