Portsmouth's Czech international midfielder Patrik Berger has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.
Berger injured his knee in a league game against Chelsea two weeks ago and has travelled to the United States for minor surgery under the same man who operated on him four years ago.
'Patrik will be out for three months. All went well and there's no problem, but there's no point in rushing things,' his agent Barry Silkman told Sky Sports TV.
The injury is the latest in a long line of knee problems that restricted Berger's appearances for his previous club Liverpool over the past two seasons.
He moved to Portsmouth last June and his absence will be a real blow to the club who are fighting to avoid an immediate return to the first division.
