First and foremost, in my humble opinion, Singapore Football is lacking of proper structure from the bottom of the organisation all the way to its facilities. www.fas.org.sg website is a good example to begin with. Its not updated and it is empty for goodness sake!
I'm a Singaporean playing amature league football here in Germany and from my personal experience, I agree we do lack facilities and proffessional organisers.
If you have the chance to travel to the Southern part of Germany, you will be surprised to see small villages provided with a football pitch with 6 lighting post in the middle of nowhere solely meant for the small clubs in the villages to train throughout the season. Mind you, these football pitches are situated in almost every town and villages in Germany. Some of which are located in the middle of a corn field or in between the mountain ranges. In the club I play in, we have 1 synthetic pitch for wet seasons and more than 12 official grounds.(Grass/Clay)
Once again, from my humble opinion, having a proper football pitch is important for modern football players. If you watch European football , you can see how often the players shoots at a long range with great confidence. They wouldnt have done so with confidence if there wasn't a high fence behind the goalpost during training.
For us Singaporeans, if we train shooting with full blast somewhere in Singapore, most probably we might end up picking up the ball on the street most of the time.
Nevertheless, if the Japanese can build a football court on the rooftop of a building due to lack of space, why the heck can't we even play football in the basketball court or under the void deck when the 'garment' aims for 2010? Wishful thinking.

P.S, If there is anyone who would like to know which football team I play with, feel free to PM me. I would not like to be associated with Singapore football in any case.

Cheers.
