SINGAPORE: A 49-year-old woman fell to her death from the 8th
floor of a block of flats in Pasir Ris, in what appears to be a freak
accident.
It is believed that she was trying to retrieve clothes poles when she fell.
Disbelieving neighbours were still gathered around the foot of the block of flats a couple of hours after the incident occurred.
Details of what happened are still sketchy.
Police would only say that they received a call around 5.20pm that
a woman was lying motionless at the foot of the block of flats.
Paramedics found her dead upon arrival.
A neighbour, Connie Chan, said: "She was lying flat on the floor with clothes pegs and hangers around her."
Neighbours believe the woman, described as petite, might have been
leaning out to retrieve the clothes poles when she fell. The police
were seen taking away the poles as evidence.
Ms Chan said: "Her husband and daughter came down. And (her husband) told the policeman ‘it's my wife’."
The distraught husband and two teenage daughters huddled at the
void deck close to where the body laid, surrounded by friends and
relatives who tried to comfort them.
Other neighbours described them as a loving family.
Police are investigating the incident.
